P Chidambaram who is a senior congress leader took a swipe at the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma over the ‘false FIR’ against Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani on Saturday.

The senior congress leader asked the CM whether the he will take the initiative to entrust the CBI to find the person who registered the FIR against Jignesh Mevani.
As per reports, the Assam Police arrested Mevani on charges of assaulting a female police officer. The Barpeta court has granted him bail on the alleged assault case.
The bail petition was heard by Judge Aparesh Chakraborty from Barpeta District and Session court. The judge also urged the High court of Gauhati to ‘reform itself’ in regard to the police encounters over the last one year time frame.
In response to the recent development made by the court, the senior congress leader said that no sane person would indulge themselves in a crime of assaulting a female police officer and that the FIR held no merit. In a chain of tweets he said that the court has found no evidence against this act on Mevani.
He asked the Chief Minister of Assam, “will the Cm of Assam entrust the case to the CBI to find out who was the insane person who caused the FIR to be registered against Mr Mevani?”
