Assam: While addressing a press meet CM shared his concern over the rising covid cases in the state.
While talking to the media:
CM Sarma while talking to the media said that daily cases could exceed 12,000 and the rate will be at peak by January 20.
The CM also stated that every single COVID case shall be considered as the Omicron variant until the genome sequencing result arrives.
He stated, “It takes about four days to conduct the genome sequencing of Omicron. By the time the test result arrives, the patient recovers and the test hardly bears any significance. Therefore, we have decided that we will presume every case of Covid as Omicron.”
Assam CM Sarma’s warning to residents:
He further warned the residents saying that this is just the beginning. The single day highest number of cases during the second wave was 6,536. The state had recorded 150 cases on January 1. The figure rose to 844 on the night of January 6. The CM said the cases were doubling in two days.
