Rajasthan’s Devendra Jhajharia hurled the javelin to a distance of 65.71 metres in the national selection trials, improving his own record of 63.97m and also, securing his Paralympic berth on the process.
The 2016 Rio Paralympic champion will now, be seen competing in the Tokyo edition which is Jhajharia’s third Paralympics. It is scheduled to begin on August 24.
The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) has shortlisted 24 skilled players for the Tokyo Paralympic Games and the likes of talented players like Mariyappan Thangavelu, Varun Bhatti and Sharad Kumar have made the list, including four from the women’s category.
