“Delmicron” a new variant has made its way. While India has recorded over 200 cases of new Omicron variant of coronavirus, the researchers have discovered another new variant which is spreading increasingly in the West termed as “Delmicron”.
Delmicron derives from Omicron and Delta variant
According to researchers, the name “Delmicron” derived by COVID-19’s Delta and Omicron variant, currently Delta variant is one the most wide-spread which will be soon replaced by Omicron, says health officials.
Delmicron led to mini tsunami of cases in West
As stated by Shashank Joshi, member of state government’s task force on Covid, “Delmicron, the twin spikes of Delta and Omicron, in Europe and US has led to a mini tsunami of cases.”
Meanwhile, researchers are still analysing how Omicron variant will behave in India and react, where there is a wide-spread “exposure” of Delta variant of Coronavirus.
“At present, Delta derivatives, descendants of Delta, are main variants in circulation in India. Omicron is fast replacing Delta in other parts of the world, but there is no way to predict how Delta derivatives and Omicron would behave,” Joshi added.
