Rana Kapoor who had been arrested in 2020 on the grounds of money laundering had informed the ED or Enforcement Directorate that he was under pressure to buy an MF Hussain Painting from congress’s Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

As per reports, the congress party has slammed him by saying that “he has cleverly accused the people who are not alive”. The statement came in response to the allegation made by the Yes bank co founders on late Murli Deora and Ahmed Patel.”
According to sources, Rana Kapoor was ‘forced’ to buy a painting from Priyanka Gandhi Vadra so that the sale proceedings can be for the treatment of Sonia Gandhi in New York. The statements were recorded and are now a part of the charge sheet that has been filed against them by the central agency.
As per the reports filed by Rana Kapoor, “it was a force sale for which i was never ready. The petroleum minister Murli Deora had told him that delay in purchasing it will have adverse repercussion on him and yes bank and that it would not permit him to build a relationship with the Gandhi Family.” In addition he was also threatened that Rana does not buy the painting he would not be awarded with a Padma Bhusan.
In response to these allegation, a congress leader replied that a person who had a scam of Rs 5000 crore will go into any lengths to save himself by accusing people who are dead and cannot defend themselves.
The charge sheet filed against Rana by the ED also reports that, “under the threat and against my family’s wishes i had to buy the painting as i could not afford to invite any form of enmity with two powerful families.”
In today’s present scenario, Kapoor is still in Judicial Custody that was followed by his arrest in 2020.
