Union Railway Ministry approves survey location to connect Imphal and Myanmar via rail.
The final location survey for the proposed 111-kilometer rail line connecting Manipur’s capital Imphal with Myanmar’s Moreh has been finalized.
Ashwini Vaishnaw gives approval
After an aerial assessment of railway projects in Manipur, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave the approval in Imphal.
As per an official this initiative will be of strategic importance and will hold a significant element of the proposed Trans-Asian Railway, which will be connecting India with South East Asia.
Expanded passenger train services
Also, the NFR reintroduced expanded passenger trains.
The services between Silchar, Assam and Jiribam, Manipur to Vangaichungpao to be reintroduced.
Further, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The final location survey will be conducted at an estimated cost of Rs 333 lakh.”
