In view of the rapidly declining Covid cases, Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Services and NRIs Affairs Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Wednesday directed the sports department to open all the stadiums across the state for players preparing for national and international sporting events.

“The players and coaches will have to ensure compliance with the guidelines issued by the Health Department for the prevention of COVID-19″, the minister categorically mentioned. A letter in this regard has also been issued to all the District Sports Officers, Sodhi said.

Special secretary-cum-director sports and youth services D P S Kharbanda said district sports officers have been asked to complete arrangements for opening stadiums and to ensure Covid protocols. “We are emphasising on mental preparation as well as physical fitness of the players to prepare them for international competitions,” he added.
