On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an important meeting with 14 political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir and the four former Chief Ministers also attended this meeting arranged by PM Modi. It was the first meeting between PM Modi and the Jammu and Kashmir politicians after the abolition of Article 370 and the division of the state into two union territories on August 5, 2019.
Former Chief Minister and PDP, Mehbooba Mufti said that the meeting was held in a peaceful and positive environment. She claimed, “People of J&K are in a lot of difficulties after 5th Aug 2019. They’re angry, upset & emotionally shattered. They feel humiliated. I told PM that people of J&K don’t accept how Article 370 was abrogated unconstitutionally, illegally & immorally.” She said that the people of J&K will struggle for their identity constitutionally, democratically, peacefully for years or months, they will restore Article 370 in J&K as it is a matter of their identity.
“We didn’t get it from Pakistan, it was given to us by our country, by Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel,” she added. She thrashed PM Modi for having discussions with China whose people are not at all involved, instead of involving the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are involved
While speaking of India’s relationship with Pakistan, Mufti stated, “I congratulated him that they talked to Pakistan and it led to a ceasefire, less infiltration. For peace of J&K, if they’ve to talk to Pakistan again, they should. They should also talk to Pakistan about trade with them that has halted, it’s a source of employment for many.”
