The latest Swachh Survekshan 2021; an annual sanitation survey among cities and towns in India, ranked Nagaland ‘6th’ among States with less than 100 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
About the Survey
The survey for 2021 was revealed on November 20 in New Delhi during the President of India Ram Nath Kovind’s felicitation of top performers at the ‘Swachh Amrit Mahotsav’ organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban-2.0 (MoHUA).
Nagaland receives the highest ULB score among other North-Eastern states
According to the poll, a total of 19 ULBs were considered, and Nagaland was placed 6th out of 14 states with less than 100 ULBs, with a total score of 1000.
The state had the highest score among the North-Eastern states, ahead of Assam (80), Mizoram (9), and Sikkim (10). Meghalaya came to the bottom place out of 14 states with fewer than 100 ULBs.
Nagaland’s overall ranking increased slightly from 19 in 2020 to 17 in 2021, out of a total of 28 states.
