IMPHAL: As the Olympics to be held at Tokyo is knocking at the door, Government of Manipur announced cash rewards for prospective medal winners at the Olympics from Manipur.
Rs. 1.2 crore for gold medals, Rs 1 crore for silver medals and 75 lakhs for bronze medal. The players from Manipur have been set to represent India in the mega sporting event slated to begin from July 23 to August 8.
The participants selected for the Olympic are MC Mary Kom (boxing 51 kg), Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting 49 kg), Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam (women’s hockey), Shanglakpam Nilakanta (men’s hockey) and Likmabam Sushila (Judo 48 kg).
