Tea garden employees at Bijuli Tea Estate in Golaghat District stabbed to death a leopard that wandered into their homes on Thursday in a tragic event.
About the incident
As per reports, at least four tea garden employees were seriously injured when the leopard attacked them.
Following this, in self-defense, one of the tea garden employees took up a machete and attacked the leopard on the neck, legs, and back, killing it on the spot.
Bishal Majhi, Dhaniram Surun, Rameswar Majhi, and Deepak Lakra were among the injured tea garden employees.
Rushed to nearest hospital
Three of the four workmen were badly injured and were sent to Golaghat’s Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital.
A team of Golaghat Forest Department officers raced to the scene after learning of the occurrence, rescued the leopard, and performed last rites.
In addition, the Golaghat Forest Department will investigate the entire situation, according to a district forest officer.
