With the picnic season approaching, the Kamrup metro district’s District Transport Office (DTO) has published new instructions for a decentralised and self-sustaining style of picnic administration. Rules to be followed are:
- Do not drink and drive.
- Avoid driving recklessly.
- It is not permitted to play loud music.
- Use of a cell phone while driving is prohibited.
It is also said that anyone who desires to hire a bus for a picnic should keep in mind that the bus driver should not be inebriated.
Strict rules for the holiday season
The Assam police and the Department of Transportation have agreed to enforce strict traffic laws in Guwahati,Kamrup(m) on New Year’s Eve to ensure safer streets and fewer accidents.
For approaching holidays such as Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, both authorities have issued strict regulations.
Violations of laws and regulations during the festival season could result in a fine of Rs 10,000, as well as possible jail time and licence suspension under section 185.
