Jorhat: Helpline numbers activated by Police to connect people in distress

On December 1, the Jorhat Police announced three helpline numbers to connect people in anguish.

As informed by the Jorhat Superintendent of Police Ankur Jain the numbers will be operative everywhere within the Jorhat city. 

Helpline numbers: 

The three helpline numbers are – 0376-2320018, 9864733854 and 9435713910. 

Statements: 

During a press conference in Jorhat, Jain said, “If there is any problem in the district, one can call us in the control numbers for any time. Our team will reach the spot at the earliest.” 

“Your support will help us to prepare a strong charge-sheet, hence I request the people of Jorhat to come forward and share their statements,” he added. 

In the view of incident that took place on November 29, the Superintendent has also requested the residents  of the city to share information along with videos, if they come across the same anyday. 

He further said, “Your support will help us to prepare a strong charge-sheet, hence I request the people of Jorhat to come forward and share their statements.”

Prior to this, CM Sarma had asked the Assam Police to file a charge sheet of the incident in one month and asked Special DGP, GP Singh to look after the inquiry of the incident personally.

The cases of mob lynching are drastically growing in the state of Assam. Last year in a similar scenario on June 12, a man named Rituparna Pegu was lynched was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Guwahati which led to several protest in Guwahati. 

It is hoped that strict actions will be taken against all culprits involved in this lynch.
