The decisive match was played by HS Prannoy who played like a lion and scripted the history for India with a 3 – 2 victory over Denmark in an edge of the seat match in Thailand.
The last time, the Indian men’s team reached the semi finale was back i 1979.
As per reports from NDTV, “while world championships silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth and World number 8 doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty kept India in the hunt, it was once again left to Prannoy to take the team home when the tie was locked 2-2.”
The match was quite intensive as Prannoy who was playing against Rasmus Gemke suffered an injury in his ankle as he slipped on the frontcourt. Despite being in pain and taking a medical timeout, his performance created a mark in the history books.
