A New Zealand origin vlogger named Karl Rock has been blacklisted by the Indian government. The vlogger had earlier released a video stating that India had blacklisted him without giving him any reason after he had left India to visit Pakistan and Dubai, thereby separating him from his wife and family in New Delhi.
According to the confirmation by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, it has come to light that India has blacklisted the vlogger for conducting business with a tourist visa. He has now been banned for one year over such visa violations.
In a tweet, Karl Rock addressed the issue and highlighted his “struggles” as he is separated from his family as his wife Manisha Malik hails from Haryana. He addressed the tweet to New Zealand Prime Minister and has launched a petition in this regard. He also tagged a bunch of senior diplomats, journalists, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official handles on the tweet.
Many people on social media assumed that he was blacklisted because he had documented an anti-CAA protest location. This video was later removed by him. “My wife and I went and filmed our experience,” Karl remarked. However, we have no way of knowing whether this is the reason for the blacklisting. We’ve filed a writ petition to get to the bottom of it.”
