According to information, a limited edition Hublot watch believed to be of football legend late Diego Maradona, was recently recovered from Assam’s Sivasagar district.
The watch was worth 20 lakhs and was stolen from Dubai. It was recovered from the possession of a resident from Sivasagar district of Assam.
According to Assam Police, he used to work in Dubai and had returned to India recently.
The accused was employed as a security guard at a firm in Dubai, UAE, keeping the late Argentinian footballer’s possessions. And as per sources, he returned home in August citing that his father wasn’t well.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the story on Twitter. “In an act of international cooperation @assampolice has coordinated with @dubaipoliceHQ through Indian federal LEA to recover a heritage @Hublot watch belonging to legendary footballer Late Diego Maradona and arrested one Wazid Hussein. Follow up lawful action is being taken.”

The accused was working as a security guard in Dubai
The accused, identified as one Wazid Hussein, used to work as a security guard in Dubai at a company that was storing the belongings of the late Argentinian footballer.
After the Dubai Police informed through central agency to the Assam Police about one Wazid Hussain stealing a limited edition Maradona signed Hublot watch and fled to Assam.
Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Assam Director General of Police, said the watch belonged to the Argentine football player himself, ” which was being stored in Dubai along with other belongings in a safe.”
In the morning around 4:00 am Assam police arrested Wazid Hussian from his residence in Sibsagar along with the limited edition watch.
Diego Armando Maradona was an Argentine professional football player
In the history of football he was regarded as one of the greatest players He reportedly died of a heart attack in November 2020.

When Hublot launched its Maradona Big Bang Chronograph Limited Edition, Diego Maradona, during the FIFA World Cup 2010 was seen wearing two of those.
Also, the watch has the legend’s photo, with arms raised in victory, engraved on the back of the Hublot Big Bang Maradona case.
Not just that, the watch also has his signatures and jersey number. It features Hublot’s HUB1146 chronograph movement with 55 jewels and 42 hours power reserve.
The Maradona Big Bang limited edition consisted of only 250 units, and all of them sold out quickly during the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Further, the police official tweeted: “A costly Hublot watch… Maradona… Dubai… Assam Police Look like random words, don’t they? But today all these words came together nicely, stating a story of successful International Cooperation between Dubai Police and @assampolice.”
