On June 7, a group of people 4-5 people behaved badly and assaulted GMC workers when they were doing their work. One of the persons indulged in the incident was identified as Asish Sarkar (landlord of M/S Junali Electricals).
However, The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has ordered the suspension of the trade license of M/S Junali Electricals. The FIR for the same has been lodged to Geetanagar Police station and GMC themselves has also commenced actions regarding this.
Media cell of GMC said, “On June 7, when the workers of Guwahati Municipal Corporation were engaged in cleaning of roads and sewages at Zoo Road, Jonali. Satyajyoti Baruah, Joint Commissioner-I, GMC, along with other officials of GMC, were inspecting the conservancy works of GMC. At around 11 pm, a group of 4 to 5 persons got off from a swift desire bearing registration number AS 01HC 5235 and threw garbage at the main road in front of the shop M/S Junali Electricals.”
Further added, The GMC officials tried to restrain them from throwing garbage in the street and tried to make them understand the hard work that officials and workers of GMC are undertaking to keep the city clean. But they argued and threatened to repeat the same in the future. One of the employees of GMC, Nagen Kalita, tried to videography the entire incident but they started using filthy language and physically assaulted him. They even threatened to throw away and break the mobile phone and went away in the car.”
