The escalating situation in Sri Lanka made the former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa take shelter at the Trincomalee Naval Base in Sri Lanka. Massive protests erupted at the base as soon as the protestors came to know his whereabouts.

Protests erupt at the naval base
According to reports by NewsWire, the ex-PM and his family members were put up at the naval base as soon as the situation went out of control in the country. A tweet was shared by the news agency that stated, ” a protest underway in front of the Trincomalee Base claiming former PM Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family members are inside.”
As per reports, a total of five people died on Monday after a violent clash broke out between the supporters of Rajapaksa and anti-government protesters.
