Covid-19 outbreak in parliament: 875 staff members tests positive

DELHI: Before the budget session on 31 January 2,847 Covid-19 tests were conducted at the parliament and at least 875 staff members of the house and also Rajya Sabha Chairperson and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, have tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the reports

M Venkaiah Naidu took to Twitter to announce that he is in Hyderabad, and has tested Covid positive. He has decided to remain in self-isolation for a week. He has advised all those who came in contact with him to isolate themselves and get tested, also this is the second time Naidu has tested positive for the virus.

The entire budget session will run for more than two months starting from 31st January 2022 and will end by 8 April 2022. there will be a rough month-long break in between the given period

The Budget Session will be held from January 31 to April 8 with a nearly month-long recess after the first half. The Union budget will be presented on February 1 and the President will address a joint sitting of both the Houses.

It is expected to be made whether Lower and Upper Houses of Parliament will sit simultaneously or in different shifts in view of a spike in the Covid-19 cases.

However, in the concern over increasing the case of covid-19 globally  the permanent had yet to decide further
