Akash Verma aged 48 misled many women into believing his stories. Verma introduced himself to people as a sharebroker or a real estate developer and also as a film director. Sometimes, the conman used to introduce himself as their husbands or the love of their lives.
Interestingly Akash Verma was not even close to any of these things. He was rather a skilled conman who preyed on vulnerable women on matrimonial sites and disappeared after taking away their money.
As per reports from a leading news agency, the man was finally nabbed by the Faridabad police officials after being involved in 60 relationships, 6 wives and Rs 40 crore of fraudulent money.
After months of search, the conman has finally been arrested by Faridabad police.
Who is Akash Verma
Akash Verma was born in Jalandhar, Punjab in the year 1974 they married at the age of 18 and even had a son through his first marriage. His first prey was back in 2004 when he allegedly met a 28-year-old woman through one of the matrimonial sites. He introduced himself as a sharebroker and claimed to have more than Rs 100 crore of property in Punjab and Delhi.
This became a pattern for Verma who tends to prey upon vulnerable women and looted them before disappearing.
The police officials said, “He would reach out to women posing as a sharebroker, director, producer or a high profile government officer from states such as Punjab, Jharkhand and Delhi on several matrimonial websites. He targeted women who sought emotional security, some of whom were recently divorced, and took advantage. Most of the victims are highly educated and some even hold key posts in various private or government organizations. He could impress anyone and be never arrested because he constantly changed his identity.”
The conman allegedly duped women from all across the country. Several complaints have been registered against him under charges of rape, forgery and cheating.
