Every year, hundreds of wild animals in Kaziranga lose their lives as a result of being hit by over speeding vehicles. In order to keep a check on over speeding vehicles, the Forest Department in Assam has installed speed meters in Kaziranga along along National Highway 37 which traverses through the national park.
Due to the emergence of monsoon, several parts of of the Kaziranga National Park are already reeling under water which have bound the wild animals to come out of their natural inhabitat and take shelter by the side of the National Highway 37.
Kaziranga National Park falls under the jurisdictions of three Assam districts – Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Nagaon. The respective administrations had announced speed limits for vehicles plying along the National Highway 37 recently. Hope this step will further be fruitful for all the wildlife in the sanctuary.
