Assam: GMCH holds another success by implanting pacemaker in 20 day old born; first in North-East

Gauhati Medical College undertakes another achievement by successfully implanting a pacemaker in a 20-day old baby. Well, this created a history for the Northeast as well as for Assam.

The department of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery (CTVS) performed the surgery of implanting a pacemaker to the infant. Reportedly the 20-day old was diagnosed with congenital heart block.

GMCH on 30th June tweeted, ” Today dept of CTVS, GMCH successfully conducted implantation of permanent epicardial pacemaker in a 20-day old infant diagnosed with congenital heart block. This is for the first time in northeast. Similar case was also done for a 9-year-old child recently.”
