A small 3 month Asiatic black bear cub has been rescued by the villagers of Dibang valley in Arunachal Pradesh. The village is situated in a remote area of Ithalin.

People from the rescue department came to help the cub. The rescue team was from the Mehao Wildlife Range which falls under the supervision of MWR Divisional officer Mori Riba. The cub was first spotted by Rajiv Pulu who is a resident of the village. He found the cub roaming around his field. The cub was later rescued and landed over to the MWR RFO.
The cub has now been shift to a mini zoo in Roing District. He looks quite healthy and is taken well care.

The cub is of The Asiatic Black Bear species which is found in the Himalayan region of Arunachal Pradesh, China, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan. The species falls under the category of being vulnerable in the IUCN red list under schedule -1 of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
