Badminton team of Arunachal Pradesh bagged the first medal at the North East Regional sports week held in Imphal, Manipur on Friday.
Arunachal Pradesh brings home winner
The team defeated the Assam team by 3-1 in the finals, were settled for silver after getting defeated by the Manipur Team.
In addition, five boxers of Arunachal Pradesh who also participated at the event secured positions at the ongoing event.
From the men section – Heli Tana Tara weighing 48 kg, defeated Irfan khan from Assam by 4-1 in the quaterfinals. Guruk Pardung weighing 57 kg won unanimously by defeating Abhoy Chetry from Sikkim.
Marge Gara won against sikkim with bout by RSC and Hari Sangno lost to Manipur.
In the women’s category, Minu Chedu won by 4-1 against Minu Sonar of Sikkim and Tadar Meku defeated Imsubina by 4-0.
In the table tennis match, the team lost to mizoram and tripura respectively. And in Women football, they lost to Manipur.
