Aimee Baruah’s film “Semkhor” becomes Assam’s first Dimasa film to be included in 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. It will be screened on February 12 at 9pm and on February15 at 5:30pm Indian time.

Aimee Baruah’s Dream Comes True

Director Aimee Baruah said, “Every filmmaker dreams of being included in one of the world’s best Berlin International Film Festival. I was no exception either. This long time dream has come true with God and your blessings.”

“Those who have registered for the Berlin International Film Festival, we invite them to enjoy the film through Virtual Berlinale EFM Platform/Virtual Indian Screening 2022. Thanking each and every person involved in the picture and feeling proud for their work and achievements,” she added.

Pijush Hazarika Comments

Baruah’s husband and state’s cabinet minister Pijush Hazrika also sharing the news said, “The first Dimasa film Semkhare directed by wife Aimee Barua has been able to bring pride to the cultural field of the state by being selected to one of the world’s best film festival “72nd Berlin International Film Festival.”

It may be mentioned that the film Semkhor represents the practices, customs, and folk notions of the people of Semkhor.

Baruah has previously bagged the ‘Best Actress Award’ at Toronto International Women Film Festival (TIWFF) for her film ‘Semkhor’ on August 19, 2021.
