With the new entrants joining in, The Union Cabinet now has a power of 11 empowering women who will lead from the front. This is a major shift of the example showed by 2019 cabinet which had a very small representation of women in the cabinet. This comes as a major breakthrough at times when we give slogans about women empowerment.
Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Meenakshi Lekhi, Annapurna Devi, Pratima Bhoumik, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, and Anupriya Singh Patel were among the seven women who took oath as ministers of state.
So far, there were only three cabinet ministers and three ministers of state. With Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigning, the number of cabinet ministers fell further to two – Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani. Meanwhile, Minister of State Debasree Chaudhury was dropped during the cabinet reshuffle.
