At 7:30 pm on 24th August, a young woman and her boyfriend arrived at Chamundi Hill, a popular tourist attraction with a well-visited temple on the outskirts of Mysore. The couple spent one night in the hospital and they were seriously injured. Apparently, the young woman was attacked and her partner was beaten.
How did the attack happen?
The attack started when the couple refused to hand over the money to a group of men who followed them into the forest and surrounded them. When the couple refused, the group beat the young man and two of the men allegedly raped the woman. After 24 hours, no person wanted for the attack was found. Police said multiple teams were searching for the attackers.
Women gets raped in front of her boyfriend; horror continues
Police said the student’s partner saw her being raped in horror and was unable to defend himself. They were taken to the hospital around 1:30 in the morning. The woman is a student at a private university. “A case has been recorded based on his statement. I have instructed the police to crack down on criminals,” ANI news agency said tonight, citing Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai that the incident sparked outrage.
Statement by Mysuru police chief
Mysuru Police Chief Chandragupta said the woman’s statement has not been recorded. “This type of incident is very delicate. Only after recording the victim’s statement can we know what happened. At the same time, the people who were with her have provided information, and then we presented the FIR based on this information, “he said, adding that they had formed an investigation team.
Karnataka home minister orders to take this case on a serious note
Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra stated that he has ordered that the case be taken very seriously and that he will visit the city tomorrow. “An FIR has been registered. Our officials have been dispatched from Bangalore to Mysore. I will also go to Mysore tomorrow. This is a very unfortunate incident,” he said.
“Some goons committed the crime after following them. The girl was admitted to a hospital at around 1:30 am. The information was received from the hospital by the morning. Further enquiry is being conducted.”
Chamundi hills; a popular destination for outing
Chamundi Hills, about 13 KMs off Mysore, is among Karnataka’s popular destinations where the famous Sri Chamundeswari Temple is located. Bengaluru, the state capital, is about 150 km away.
