On 20th August, the banned outfit of Assam ULFA (I) stated that it would carry out armed operations against the three Oil companies ONGC, OIL and IOCL if they don’t fulfil their demands.
What ULFA-I has demanded?
ULFA (I) has demanded permanent jobs instead of contractual jobs for the indigenous candidates of Assam in the various companies including ONGC, OIL and IOCL.
ULFA (I) publicity wing member Rumel Asom said “We would like to make it clear that there will not be any option but to launch armed resistance against the Oil companies if they continue their anti-Assamese approach”.

ULFA-I has also demanded a better position of experiences indigenous
ULFA-I has also demanded the appointment of an experienced individual who is indigenous to Assam for the post of managing director in OIL. Further the, outfit stated, “The companies have to reserve 95% jobs for indigenous candidates and also hold the selection examinations in Assam”.
The outfit have also demanded to connect pipe facility to the villages
ULFA-I has said, “start LPG pipe connection facility to villages of Assam and ensures that people of Assam get benefits from the natural resources of the state.”
