‘Traffic police will not inspect vehicles, especially when there is a check block,’ according to the circular; instead, they will monitor traffic and ensure that it moves regularly. They will only halt a car if it is causing traffic congestion.
On numerous occasions, traffic cops have stopped motorists anywhere on suspicion and begun searching their boots and the interior of the vehicle. As a result, traffic on that road is impacted.
Because the amount of traffic on the roads is increasing, all traffic cops have been instructed to stop examining vehicles and instead focus on traffic monitoring. The circular states that if motorists break traffic rules, the traffic police can prosecute them under the Motor Vehicles Act.
The traffic police will only take action against traffic offenses and not check vehicles during the coordinated roadblock by traffic cops and local cops. If these instructions are not rigorously followed, the traffic post’s senior inspector will be held accountable.
A senior traffic police official categorically stated that officers should not search the trunks of vehicles based on suspicion and should not stop them. He stated that our jawans will continue to issue citations for traffic rules violations and will stop violators.
