In a major breakthrough, researchers from Tezpur University designed a low-cost portable high-pressure oxygen generator from the water.
A statement mentioned that, a portable pollution-free setup of high oxygen generation from water to serve the requirement of oxygen was made by research scholars Prof.
Partha Pratim Sahu and Jagat Das of Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Low-cost setup, part of ‘Make in India’ initiative
In such times of need with an ongoing pandemic, such applications can help the people who are in need of oxygen.
Prof. Sahu went ahead and elaborated by saying, “This initiative is part of ‘Make in India’ movement and we are happy to share that in addition to being low cost, it will provide oxygen without taking oxygen from the air for different applications such as medical and industrial use up to a good extent.”
Produces high purity oxygen without any break
“The oxygen generation setup here is specially designed to produce high purity oxygen very quickly with high pressure from water splitting electrolysis to cater to the need without any break,” added Jagat Das.
Prof. Sahu further mentions, “We are awaiting clinical trials so that further improvement can be done to the system to support serious oxygen shortage patients due to Covid-19 situations.”
