Koozhangal film also won multiple awards
Koozhangal had gained the pinnacle honor, the Tiger Award for best film, at the 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), at the beginning of this year. It was also screened at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA).
The 94th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place on March 27, 2022, in Los Angeles.
Film inspired by his own life, says director Vinothraj
Director Vinothraj’s first feature film is inspired by an incident from his own life. His sister’s husband was an alcoholic and due to this she was thrown out of her drunken husband’s house, and she had to walk miles for shelter.
“The self-taught Vinothraj has given us a film which is spare, sparse, and yet consistently engaging. It leaves you with much to think about, about how, sometimes, a pebble can save a life,” Subhra Gupta of Indian Express wrote about this film.
