The Supreme Court of India ordered the issuance of Aadhar cards to all sex workers. The issuance will be based on the performa certificate which will be issued by the UID (Unique Identification Authority of India). The Supreme Court said that every person from all fields of work has a fundamental right to be treated with dignity.
According to Justice L Nageswara Rao, the identity and confidentiality of the sex workers must not be revealed.
All sex workers to get Aadhar card without proof of identity
The bench also comprised Justice B R Gavai and A S Bopanna, and as per them, “Aadhar cards shall be issued to sex workers based on a performa certificate issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India and submitted by a gazette officer at the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) or the project director of state AIDS Control Society along with the enrolment form.”
As per reports, the bench said that the all persons from all walks of life must be treated with dignity and respect. In addition, the Supreme Court has ordered to issue aadhar card without proof of identity subjected that they produce a certificate issued by a gazette officer.
