Political agenda concerns regarding the status of the rule

Recently, Xi’s first ‘secret’ visit to Tibet since taking over as president in 2013 raises concerns across the world. According to Xinhua news agency, the president visited the Tibet Autonomous Region in connection with the 70th anniversary of Tibet’s “peaceful liberation the first time in the history of the party and the country.”

In conclusion to the visit, Xi stresses the need for fully implementing the guidelines for the Chinese Communist Party to govern Tibet for a new era and for writing new lasting stability and high-quality development for the plateau, during his visit.

Reasons that call for concern over the ‘unannounced secret visit

According to reports, China’s official media kept the visit under wraps till the end of the trip on Friday.

In addition to the status of the border conflict, Nyingchi, where the President visited is also where China is constructing a massive dam on the Brahmaputra river.

Hence the visit comes amid border tensions with India and at a time when China is said to be suppressing local culture by implementing atheist ideals.
