Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again secured his position as the most popular global leader, surpassing prominent figures like US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and UK’s Rishi Sunak, according to a recent survey by US-based Morning Consult.

The survey, conducted from January 30 to February 5, indicates that Modi enjoys a staggering 78 percent approval rating among adults in various countries surveyed. This marks a notable increase from last December’s ratings, where he received a 76 percent approval rating, reaffirming his widespread appeal on the international stage.
At 73, Modi is vying for a third successive term as Prime Minister, a milestone previously achieved only by India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Hailing from Vadnagar in Gujarat’s Mehsana district, Modi’s political journey began with his involvement in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1985. Rising through the party ranks, he assumed the role of Gujarat’s Chief Minister in 2001 and later became the BJP’s campaign committee chief and prime ministerial candidate, leading to a historic victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Under Modi’s leadership, the BJP secured its best performance to date in the 2014 elections, winning 282 seats, and repeated its success in 2019 with an even greater mandate of 303 seats. This consistent electoral triumph reflects Modi’s enduring popularity and his ability to resonate with voters both domestically and globally.
