The much awaited oscar awards is finally back on television. This time the list of awardees and nomination has some of the finest names from the film industry of hollywood.
Oscars year 2022
The award ceremony for the 94th academy award were held in the city of Los Angeles. The award is given to honour the work of the artist in the film industry.
This time at the Dolby Theatre which is the largest and the known theatre group of the world hosted the event of the 94th Academy Awards. The event was hosted by none other than Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Skyes.
At the event, a large number of crowd turned up. Many artist were at the hope of winning but only the best could get the trophy home.
One of the best win of the night was of CODA that won the ‘Best Picture Award’. The phenomenal movie was nominated in more than 2 categories and was able to take home the big winning category of the night.
Tony Kotsur won the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ category and the Best Screenplay was also by the film.
The second movie to win 6 awards for the night was Dune. It was nominated for 10 categoeries, out of which it was able to win 6. The categories for it won are best original score, visual effects, sound, design and editing.
Another movie, called The Power of the Dog managed to win only one award out of 12 nomination. The best director category was won by Jane Campion.
One of the greatest win of the oscar night was by Will Smith. He won for the prestigious award for the first time in his entire career.
Oscar controversies
One of the biggest controversy of the night was between Chris Rock and Will Smith. While presenting the awards, Chris Rock made a remark on Will Smith’s wife, to which he got agitated and slapped him on stage.
Later, Smith apologised for his behaviour to the Academy and to his fellow artists. The Latter on the other hand denies to file a report against his fellow artist.The department of the Los Angeles Police shared a report that wrote, “LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file ab police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”
Another controversy that has triggered the audience most was the failure to pay tribute to the famous Indian artist Late Lata Mangeshwar and late Dilip Kumar at the Oscars. This failure on their part has led to many Indian fans startled and confused. Many even commented on this as an act of ‘colonialism.
Not all artists were left out from the tribute.
