It was termed the “largest reality competition ever” by Netflix. Unlike the Korean dystopian drama, the new reality show will not be a life or death situation. 456 candidates from all around the world will compete in games for a chance to win or miss out on a $4.56 million prize money.

The players will compete in a series of activities inspired by the original show, as well as some intriguing new features. While competitors are eliminated around them, the player’s “plans, alliances, and character” will be put to the test.

Earlier in June, Netflix also confirmed that the popular Korean series Squid Game would be renewed for a second season. The show saw contestants from different backgrounds compete by playing childhood games for a chance to win a huge cash prize. After releasing in September 2021, it became the streaming platform’s most-watched series.

The first season is the most popular series of all time, with over 1.65 billion hours watched in the first 28 days.

The reality show will be filmed in the United Kingdom, and only English speakers are presently being cast. The news comes only days after the scripted series was given a second season renewal.
