The officials from Zoram Energy Development Agency (ZEDA) presented a PowerPoint presentation in the presence of Governor Hari Babu Kambhampatti at his office, today on the Installation of 70kWp SPV Power Plant at Raj Bhawan Complex.
Necessity to provide awareness
During his exchange with the officials from ZEDA, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati recommended additional awareness campaigns to educate the target beneficiaries on clean and renewable energies like solar power Mizoram. Further, he requested ZEDA and Power & Electricity Department to notify their customers to elect for grid-connected solar rooftop systems rather than off-grid systems in order to pump surplus and unused generated power into the grid for usage by others.
Distribution of Solar Lamps
The Mizoram Governor was glad to understand that a total of 1,44,705 solar study lamps were distributed among the students up to class 10 throughout the state. However, he had advised ZEDA to do more awareness campaigns so that the schemes of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy are being utilized to the optimum even in the remotest parts of the state.
According to the presentation given by ZEDA, there are 90% Subsidies in Off Grid Solar PV Power Plants – For Govt. Buildings, Institutions, etc, 90% Subsidy for Solar Street Lights – Public uses through village councils, 85% Subsidy for students up to Class X to buy Solar Study lamps. Following the launch of JNNSM in 2010, ZEDA has already installed an aggregate capacity of 5,033kWp SPV power plants all over Mizoram, installed 20,000 numbers of solar street lights along with the dissemination of 1,44,705 solar study lamps to students up to Class 10 and below.
Subsidy schemes under Grid Connected Solar Rooftop Systems
Moreover, there is a provision of a scheme under Grid Connected Solar Rooftop Systems where a beneficiary can avail 40% subsidy for residential buildings and a provision of achievement linked subsidy for government buildings. Underachievement linked systems ZEDA installed a total of 113kWp in 8 government buildings in 2019 and they also installed an aggregate capacity of 902kWp (266 residential buildings- in 2019). However, the scheme is currently being implemented by Power & Electricity Department.
