Mizoram logged 2,531 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which has been the highest-ever single-day spike till date, and has also been reported as the highest daily caseload among the eight northeastern states.
The test positivity rate (TPR) was also extremely high at 31.1%, even as the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) results from northeastern Khawzawl and southern Lawngtlai districts were not included among the new cases, officials said.
Mizoram among the other states
The recovery rate was 92.36%, the lowest among the northeastern states, till 5 pm on Tuesday.
While 2,318 people were discharged on Tuesday, the total number of infected people who had recovered in the state rose to 1,61,642 as against the total number of infected people at 1,75,022.
The total number of active cases on Tuesday was 12,768, while the toll rose to 612 with four more people succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.
The healthcare experts were worried about the daily caseload in the state kept increasing, while the country’s other states witnessed a decreasing effect day by day.
A Healthworker’s statement
“The caseload was extremely high during the last part of the second wave last year in Mizoram. While other states, especially in the northeast region, logged only a few infections, Mizoram reported the highest daily caseloads for over 60 consecutive days last year,”
