Mizoram: Educational institutions to remain closed till January 31, classes to be held online

The Mizoram Government on Friday, January 7, released a new SOP issuing new guidelines for the state’s educational institutions and public places to contain the rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases.  The new guidelines to be enforced in the State of Mizoram with effect from 08.01.2022 till the midnight of 31.01.2022

Offline classes only for class X and XII

According to the new SOP, Schools, and hostels for students of classes I to IX and class XI shall remain closed. Classes shall continue to be conducted in online mode.

Offline classes are only available for students of Class X and XII, who will be appearing for board examinations, with strict observance of COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB). For this, the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the same will be prepared by the School Education Department which will also ensure full vaccination of the teachers/ other school officials on duty.

Also, Classes in all Colleges and Institutes of higher education/ Universities shall be completed in online mode.

Restrictions for Religious Gatherings and Funerals

Worship services of all kinds can be performed in 50% seat capacity of the venue. Church congregation (inkhawmpui) is permitted for daytime services only.

Similarly, for funeral services, only a maximum of 50% seating capacity of the venue or not more than 50 persons (whichever is less) is allowed, with the condition that no refreshments are prepared and served.

However, individuals with COVID-19 symptoms are not allowed to attend social gatherings.
