Mangaluru police chases thief in filmy style; dramatic video goes viral

In Mangaluru a police officer was seen chasing a mobile phone thief, dodging through traffic to catch the thief and pin him down. 

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms and netizens are impressed by the cop.

People on the streets of Nehru Maidan of Mangaluru were in for a great surprise when they witnessed a police chasing a man after stealing a mobile phone. Reportedly, there were three culprits involved.

ARSI Varun Alva caught the accused 

Assistant Reserve Sub-Inspector Varun Alva caught the accused, named Harish Poojary, a 32-year-old-man from Neermarga. Varun Alva chased and pinned him down in complete cinema style. 

In the video, the policeman was seen chasing the thief, by following him through narrow bylanes, and finally he was able to track him down and nabbed him in the middle of a busy road. 

The video of the policeman chasing the accused went viral on social media platforms and netizens were seen praising the police for his efforts. Many said that the video looked like it was a scene from some film. 

About the incident 

As per information, three men had snatched a mobile phone from the victim named Prem Narayan Yogi, a granite worker hailing from Rajasthan. 

A case regarding the incident has been registered in Pandeshwar police station. 20-year-old Shamanth from Attavar and Harish Poojary are in police custody, but Rajesh manages to escape. 

ARSI Varun Alva and the team who nabbed the accused, will be rewarded and felicitated by the department, said Police Commissioner N Shashi.
