Junmoni Rabha, a sub-inspector in Assam’s Nagaon district, has detained her fiancé Rana Pogag on Fraud charges.
Further, Rana Pogag allegedly claimed to work for the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Assam when he was not.
Pogag is also accused of defrauding numerous individuals out of crores of rupees by offering them jobs at ONGC.
Rabha filed an FIR after learning of the alleged crimes perpetrated by her fiancé Rana Pogag, and he was arrested as a result.
“I am appreciative to the three people who approached me with information about him (Rana Pogag) and how much of a scammer he is. Junmoni stated, “They opened my eyes.”
Meanwhile, police have obtained fake ONGC seals and documents from Rana Pogag, who is currently in police custody.
Moreover, Junmoni was engaged to Rana Pogag in October of last year, and the two were planning to marry in November of this year.
Junmoni Rabha made headlines for her loyalty
In January of this year, Assam police officer Junmoni Rabha made headlines after a telephone conversation she had with Bihpuria MLA Amiya Kumar Bhuyan was published on social media.
Amiya Kumar Bhuyan, a Bihpuria MLA, had ‘demanded’ that Junmoni Rabha, who was then working as a SI in Assam’s Majuli district, abandon her duties in a case involving the seizure of a boat belonging to Missing tribals.
Junmoni Rabha was plainly heard refusing to succumb under pressure from the Assam MLA during the telephonic chat.
She also questioned the Assam MLA on how, “as a representative of the people, he could ask the police to break rules and regulations.”
