The next job mela in Assam, according to state skill, employment, and entrepreneurship minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, will be held online.
Patowary, when asked about the mismanagement during the state’s job mela, acknowledged that while other districts fared well, Guwahati had “some mismanagement.”
“For this aim, a portal is being created. He went on to say that the portal would serve both companies and job seekers.
Mismanagement by authorities
On Friday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma indicated that those responsible for the program’s mismanagement will face consequences.
CM Sarma stated that he had requested that Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary investigate the matter.
“Before putting together a programme like this, there should have been newspaper advertisements stating that the jobs would be from private enterprises,” he said.
He went on to say that the mela could have been planned online to avoid the crowds.
“It was awful to cause so much trouble for so many young people,” he added.
It should be noted that two officials were also suspended on Friday due to the statewide program’s mishandling.
On Thursday, a large number of unemployed teenagers flocked to the job mela in the hopes of finding a steady work in the government sector, but to their disappointment, the government-organized program’s counters were crammed with private enterprises.
