CM of Rajasthan tweets against Jignesh Mevani’s arrest
The minister tweeted, “the arrest of Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani by the Assam Police for tweeting against the Prime Minister is an abuse of power. This dictatorial attitude of the central and BJP governments is like a blemish on democracy and is against the constitution.” He further added that, ” If politicians are arrested for making statements against the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and then perhaps the number of jails in the country will fall short. ”
Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani belonged from the Congress Party and was arrested by the Assam Police from Palanpur on Wednesday. He was arrested on the basis of an FIR that was lodged against him at the Kokrajhar Police Station.

The FIR mentioned the cause of arrest to be his derogatory remark directed towards India’s Prime Minister. The tweet read, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi considered Godse as God.”
