Indian Railways showcased the country’s first-ever ‘pod’ design retiring rooms in Mumbai Central Station.

The rooms were virtually launched on Wednesday, November 17, by the Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Patil Danve.
‘Pod’ rooms, which originated in Japan, are essentially low-cost hotel rooms with minimum amenities in a small package.

The Ministry of Railways tweeted: “Travelling by train on a short business trip or taking a group of students on a tour, POD rooms at Mumbai Central station are here to make your journey comfortable and easy.”
Taking to Twitter sharing images of these ‘pod’ rooms, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, ” The Future is now! Introducing Indian Railways’ first ever Pod retiring rooms at Mumbai Central Railway Station.”
