In a recent statement release, CSK mentioned that ,MS Dhoni has willingly decided to step down and has selected Ravindra Jadeja to take over.
The legendary Indian Cricket Team captain
The recent statement clears the air for the audience as Dhoni himself picked up up Jadeja as his successor. The latter has notably been a member of the team since 2012, as the most expensive player bought in that auction. According to a recent report, Jadeja has been a part of the CSK since the past 10 years. But MS Dhoni will continues tob have an impact upon the audience forever.
MS Dhoni was one of the leading players since the inception of CSK in 2008. He was given a nick name called Thala as he won 4 titles in the IPL season of 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021 respectively. In terms of his performance, he is an excellent skipper in the history of IPL.
Alongside Dhoni, Rohit Sharma is also o the top of the list having won more than four titles.
MS Dhoni’s captaincy
As the years roll by, many people have started taking CSK and Dhoni as synonymous. He indeed has a huge fan base in the southern part of india because of his long term association and his close ties with CSK. He used to turn up for almost all events leaving behind only a few of them. He thus retired in the year 2019, following the World Cup. When Dhoni decided to retire, it came to a utter surprise for the CSK CEO. In India, Dhoni is supposedly the only player to have been able to side more than 200 matches in the IPL.
The first campaign of the CSK for the IPL season 2022 will be up against Kolkata Knight Riders. In terms of Jadeja’s association with the captaincy, he has been a top player and is always appreciated by all.
MS Dhoni winning percentage
As a whole, the Chennai Super Kings have a large number of playoffs which is equivalent to 9 out 11 matches. As an excellent skipper, Dhoni’s win percetage in the Chennai Super Kings has remained more than 55.
Over the years, he has led several matches and was victorious in 121 out of 204 matches. Dhoni is the only player to be able to win four titles in IPL, and two titles in CTL throughout his careers.
On the other hand, Rajindra Jadeja became the first captain in his life, in the year 2007. During the captaincy, he led the under 19 team of Saurashtra. The tournament was held in Rajkot. He then made his way to reclaim his spot in the ICCI Test ranking which was released on wednesday. He gained his position back to number one after the first test match in Mohali.
Thus, one can say that though the captaincy period for MS Dhoni has come to an end in the Chennai Super Kings, peoples feeling and admiration towards him will always remain the same. There is no doubt given that Ravindra Jadeja is an excellent player and he too will be able to bring glory to the team. But the Dhoni’s captaincy will be remembered all. The development of the new captaincy has certainly surprised many people including the CSK CEO, but on the bright side Jadeja can and will be able to prove his worth to the audience too.
