Guwahati Masters Super 100 Badminton Tournament
The Guwahati Masters Super 100 Badminton Tournament continued on Thursday, December 5. Surasajai Stadium in Guwahati hosted 33 matches in all on its third day. On that day, Indian players were outstanding. Sathish Kumar Karunakaran, Ayush Shetty, Ravi Ravi, and Tharun Mannnepalli qualify for the quarter-finals for men’s singles, while for women’s singles, Tanvi Sharma, Mansi Singh, and Anmol Khrab make their spot in the quarter-finals.
Men singles
Indian players that made their seat to the quarter-finals under the men’s singles category are Sathish Kumar Karunakaran, Ayush Shetty, Ravi Ravi, and Tharun Mannnepalli.
Sathish Kumar Karunakaran won against Malaysian player Sholeh Ali Sadikin Aidlin with a score line of 21-9, 9-21, 21-7. Ravi Ravi’s match was against Mads Emil Christophersen of Canada, and he made a win by winning the last two sets with a score of 21-17, 21-14.
In a very exciting match, Ayush Shetty played against S.M. Subramaninan and had a neck-and-neck competition. Ayush made a victory in the end, defeating his opponents in the last two sets by 22-20 and 23-21.
Tharun Mannepalli was set against another Indian player, Priyanshu Rajawat. Tharun defeated his opponent with a scoreline of 24-22, 15-21, 21-13.
Apart from these 4 Indian players, other players who, after securing a win in today’s match, made their way to the men’s singles quarter-finals are Saran Jamsri and Cheam.
Women Singles
Mansi Singh defeated Chen Su Yu by 21-13, 21-9 to advance. While Tanvi Sharma, marking his full dominance from the very start, finishes the game within the first two sets and defeats her opponent Hsieh Yi En by 21-19, 21-8.
The same was the scene for Anmol Kharb as she took down her opponent with 21-9, 21-15, showcasing her full edge on the game.
It was unfortunate for Indian female players Tasnim Mir, Shriyanshi Valishetty, and Tara Shah, as they lost in their respective matches and hence were out of the tournament.
Other players who were able to make it to the quarter-finals were Wang Dai, Cai Yanyan, Chainwan Lalinrat, and Ketklieng Yataweemin.
Men’s doubles
In total 8 matches were played today under the men doubles category. Wherein India was able to win one match. In a very interesting match the partnership of H. Amsakuranan and Rethinasaba defeated the duo of Lim T. J. and Wong T. C. with a score line of 21-13, 20-22, 21-19.
Cui H C and Peng J Q, Lua Y S and Maslee Y B, Maio J and Villeger W, Chai W and Lwi S H, Onodera M and Tanioka D and Kumagai K and Nishi H; the duos that were able to qualify for the quarter-finals after winning their respective matches.
Women double
Under the women’s doubles category, 8 matches were held today. In the game between the pair A.A. Pai/N. Ravishankar and P. Konjengbam/S. Mishra, P. Konjengbam and S. Mishra mark the victory by overpowering the other pair with a 17-21, 15-21 score.
Another match, which was also between two Indian duos, the pair of T. Crasto and A. Ponnappa knocked down the opposing pair of A. Pramuthesh and S. Singh by 21-17, 21-17.
