The government employees of Manipur will now work for 5 days a week from 9 am to 5:30 pm. The changes will be followed from 1st April 2022 onwards.

The chief minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh announced the prosposed changes in the government by amending the working hours of the government employees. The above decision was taken on 22 nd of march and put forwarded by the governor of Manipur on that very day itself.
The new changes include working days to start from Monday and end on Friday and the time is from 9 am to 5:30 pm during summers and 9 am to 5pm during the winter months.

The changes will be effective to all work departments including offices, agencies and all public undertakings that fall under the state government jurisdiction. In addition to the 7 hours working period, 30 mintues break is also included during lunch hours.

Many changes have been put forward by the Manipur government , not in offices but also in the education sector. For schools, different time allotment will be made in accordance with the different levels. Schools not only in private but semi and government funded as well start from 8 am
onwards from Monday to Saturday.

In case of smooth of essential services, the government of Manipur has decided that all employees who are not working in days to make sure that there is no disruption of services.


Furher, to ensure his efficiency in his first 100 days, the Manipur government has laid out an action plan to fulfil the needs of the people and for the welfare of its citizens. According to a recent report, chief minister, Biren Singh on the new initiatives said that , “this will
improve the work life balance of employees. Office timings will breased and adjusted with school timings for smooth commute.”
