Amidst the number of students who were deprived of education in our country due to lack of smartphones and digital tools, a Smartphone donation drive is started by The Sikkim Teachers’ Association (STA), West District, for students who are underprivileged from the Primary Schools under the theme, “Gift a mobile, reach to a student”. This initiative by the STA will be very beneficial for the students who are from financially weaker households and do not have access to digital learning tools for their online classes.
The event was held on July 4th at Singpheng School in a simple manner and was attended by Panchayats, officials, Teachers, Parents, Guardians & students. 5 mobile phones were distributed in the first phase; three students were of Singpheng School and two students of Singing School of Geyzing under Yangthang Constituency. The recipients & parents expressed their deep gratitude to STA for providing the devices as now they will be able to connect for learning.
The STA, West Sikkim has requested citizens to spread the message of the ongoing initiative for mass participation so that the underprivileged students can benefit from this arrangement.
