The 75th Independence Day of India is finally here , and everyone is celebrating this day of freedom. August 15, 2021, is a moment of pride for all Indians.
Over the years, Bollywood has celebrated Independence through its outstanding movies. Some great hit films came out in the last few years that portrayed our history and the freedom movement in a brand new way.
Since Independence day weekend is here, we have five great movies for you to celebrate freedom.
Uri: The Surgical Strike

If you are a fan of patriotic films, you can give a watch to this movie called Uri: The Surgical Strike, which stars Vicky Kaushal as the main lead.
This is a film totally based on the surgical strike by the Indian Army after suspecting a group of militants who attacked an army base in 2016. The movie is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
The film was to be directed by Aditya Dhar. Later,who made a statement saying the film is “the story of what was imagined to have happened in those eleven days.”
Bhuj: The Pride of India

This film was made as a “true story” of bravery, patriotism and determination set in the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.
The film is directed and written by Abhishek Dudhaiya with Pooja Bhavoria, Raman Kumar and Ritesh Shah. The film is based on the 1971 Bhuj air base attack.
The movie saw its release, on August 13, on Disney + Hotstar.
Lakshya

17 years ago, Farhan Akhtar’s movie, Lakshya, starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta in the lead, came as a banger in the Bollywood world.
Lakshya was based in the India-Pakistan Kargil war of 1999 in Tiger Hill. Farhan’s films have always been based on personal journeys, and this is one of the best Bollywood movies ever made.

Kesari

Kesari is Directed and written by Anurag Singh and jointly produced by Karan Johar. It features Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra and portrays the battle of Saragarhi in 1897.
Kesari tells the story of Havildar Ishar Singh, who used to lead 21 Sikh soldiers against thousands of Pashtun invaders. The songs of this movie are also a reason why you should watch this on your independence day weekend.

Raazi

If you haven’t thought about watching Raazi, you are missing one of the best Bollywood movies, which is based on the tale of an Indian raw agent who was married to a person belonging to a Pakistani military family.
Gulzar’s directorial films are always a banger to the Bollywood industry and cannot be missed. Movie cast members Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal have given their outstanding performances in the film.
