Union Minister and former Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, has been appointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA). According to PTI, the statement was issued via a Cabinet Secretariat notification published late Monday, July 12.
The CCPA also includes Environment and Labour Minister Bhupender Yadav, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh. This action is significant considering Sonowal and Yadav’s predecessors in their respective ministries were not part of the previous CCPA.
The CCPA is responsible for problems relating to Centre-State relations as well as parts of foreign affairs that do not have implications for internal or external security.
